Baby Shower Gift Ideas

A friend of mine was expecting twin babies in December 2011. When i heard the news i was really very happy for her and her family. I was ecstatic when i heard that it was going to be a Baby Boy & Girl.Oh how dreamy dreamy perfect can that be.Well the mommy and the daddy themselves can vouch for all the sleepless nights and the drastic change these cuddly bundles of joy brought to their lives. As an aunt all i have been doing is going Awwwwww on every new picture update of the twins :)
Anyways so we had a small twin baby shower party for the mommy to be in early November. I had been thinking really hard about a decent gift to welcome the cute one's to the world. After some research and the constant coaxing of the DIY artist in me i decided on creating a Diaper Cake.Sounds fun eh'! Well yeah, it certainly was a fun 8 hours of putting together and decorating the diaper cake. I was pretty proud of the outcome.
I'm not a big recipe writer but i can definitely jot down things you would need to make one like the one i made.So here goes :

1. A big pack of new born diapers ( I had got a pack of 60)
2. soft wool or string to tie them together.
3. A round cardboard plate as a base.
4. Lots of pink and blue trims and ribbons ( you can choose these according to the baby's gender or use neutral one's if the gender's not revealed by the parents)
5. Transparent gift wrap ( I used this to cover the diaper layers so that the glue from the ribbons and decorations wouldn't stick around to the diapers, and they could be used later for the babies)
6. Baby things - mittens, booties, caps, baby necessities any thing that you would want to stash inside the cake hollow or put above the cake)

Once you have all the above ingredients you are all set to bake your very first Diaper Cake! I hope you have fun creating it oops i mean baking it. coz i sure did !
